Analysts Offer Insights on Consumer Goods Companies: Identiv (NASDAQ: INVE) and Ecolab Inc (NYSE: ECL)

Analysts have been eager to weigh in on the Consumer Goods sector with new ratings on Identiv (INVEResearch Report) and Ecolab Inc (ECLResearch Report).

Identiv (INVE)

In a report released today, Andrew Uerkwitz from Oppenheimer initiated coverage with a Buy rating on Identiv and a price target of $7. The company’s shares opened today at $4.94.

“We are initiating coverage of Outperform rating and $7 price target. We see Identiv as a microcap gem in a steadily growing, but evolving access control market. We believe access control is going through tremendous change: moving away from segments that are siloed off from each other and sold through traditional distributors toward an integrated solution with technology firms having more direct access to customers. Identiv has spent the past three years right-sizing the business, building around its core competency, and acquiring technology to speed up its transition toward a full suite offering within access control with a focus on cloud enabled, hardware-light solutions. We see Identiv as well positioned to gain market share and grow faster than market.”

Currently, the analyst consensus on Identiv is a Strong Buy with an average price target of $9.67, implying a 95.7% upside from current levels. In a report issued on April 15, Northland Securities also assigned a Buy rating to the stock with a $11 price target.

Ecolab Inc (ECL)

Oppenheimer analyst Scott Schneeberger assigned a Hold rating to Ecolab Inc today. The company’s shares opened today at $180.77, close to its 52-week high of $186.34.

According to, Schneeberger is a 5-star analyst with an average return of 6.8% and a 59.2% success rate. Schneeberger covers the Services sector, focusing on stocks such as Service Corp International, General Finance, and XPO Logistics.

The word on The Street in general, suggests a Moderate Buy analyst consensus rating for Ecolab Inc with a $179.50 average price target, which is a -0.7% downside from current levels. In a report issued on April 18, UBS also downgraded the stock to Hold with a $186 price target.
