Resource Capital (NYSE: RSO)

In a report released today, Jessica Levi-Ribner from FBR Capital reiterated a Hold rating on Resource Capital (NYSE: RSO), with a price target of $9.75. The company’s shares opened today at $9.35.

Levi-Ribner noted:

“Resource Capital reported 1Q17 core EPS of ($0.11), missing our estimate of ($0.06) and the Street at ($0.09). GAAP EPS came in at $0.09, which included gains from non-core asset sales and demonstrated further progress on the company’s strategic restructuring initiatives as capital from asset sales was redeployed into new first mortgage, floating-rate CRE loans. We expect that earnings power will continue to benefit as capital is redeployed from asset sales into CRE loan originations, but also believe it may take some time to divest the less liquid assets, which comprise a majority of the targeted held-for-sale assets. With that in mind, we expect earnings volatility to continue with the portfolio transition still underway, which should keep shares range-bound for the time being.”

According to TipRanks.com, Levi-Ribner is a 4-star analyst with an average return of 8.5% and a 72.5% success rate. Levi-Ribner covers the Financial sector, focusing on stocks such as Sutherland Asset Management Corporation, Arlington Asset Investment, and New York Mortgage Trust.

Resource Capital has an analyst consensus of Hold, with a price target consensus of $8.88.
